Connections to Geography
Population: After the completion of the 4 Yugoslav Wars, all of the seven countries population decreased with the Serbian population in Serbia decreasing the most. However all of the countries are slowly increasing in population.
Location/Borders and Culture: The cultural and regional borders were so small that some cultures expanded past their boundaries into new areas that had different cultures. When the new cultures came in, they wanted to take over the area, causing tensions which led to some areas wanting independence from Yugoslavia.
Development: The war had effected each of the country's development negatively. For example, When all of the countries were one, their GDP was growing over time and had been rising quickly but with the many conflicts, each of the countries declined, as seen in the graph located in the link below.
Migration: Many people left the different regions of Yugoslavia throughout the different wars with the majority of the people leaving.
Resources: Many of the Yugoslav provinces wanted to have water access as well, because with all the independence movements certain countries would end up becoming land locked such as Serbia, Macedonia, and Kosovo. This desire for water was one of the main reasons why the Serbs in Serbia did not want the countries to become independent.
