The End of the war.
After most of the provinces declared independence, Serbia gave up on its goal to have all the provinces as one whole country. Having given up on their goal, they let the other provinces become their own new sovereign state instead of being apart of Serbia. These independence movements were finalized by the United Nations in different years. On May 22nd 1992, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina became their own sovereign state. Macedonia floowed suit in 1993, Serbia in 2000, and Montenegro in 2006. Also the European Union has also helped calm down the chaotic Balkan region. Now Slovenia and Croatia are apart of the European Union, and Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia are negotiating with the European Union to become part of the European Union. Kosovo declared independence from Sebia in 2008, but they are still not a sovereign state.
